Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…

August 9

Officer was patrolling in the area of South Main Street and noticed a car with a busted windshield and a ratchet strap holding the hood down. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the vehicle, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana. The driver denied and illegal substance in the vehicle, but after a search marijuana was located. Driver was placed under arrest.

911 dispatched officers to McLeod Bridge Road to meet with a complainant wanting to make a report about an ex-boyfriend harassing c/p. C/p stated that she broke up with offender a few days before and over the past few days they had been exchanging property. She stated that the day before the report was made, they had an argument over text message about some property and he threatened her during the argument. She stated that he had been abusive in the past.

Officer was dispatched to the Swainsboro Apartments in reference to a male subject wanting to see his kids. C/p stated that around a year ago, he and the mother of his three children had an argument and she has not allowed him to see his children since. There are no court documents stating his legal rights or any type of restraining orders keeping him from seeing the kids. He stated that he knocked on the apartment door to see the kids and the mother would not come to the door.

Officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain its own lane of traffic. A traffic stop was conducted, and the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana inside of the vehicle and he was issued citation to appear in court.

911 dispatched officers to Prosperity Drive for two juveniles. C/p stated that the offender showed up at her home with her two children and went to bed, leaving the children running through the house. The offender stated that she was kicked out of her home and slept in the yard with the two children. DEFACS was contacted and left them at their home when they finished. She stated that they could not stay at home. The mother and her children were transported to Em Co Jail. Help was contacted and a room was paid for at a hotel for the three. They were also given a bus ticket to get back to Iowa to their family.

Officer responded to a call at South Green Street in reference to a caller needing to report a stolen weed eater. C/p stated that earlier in the day she noticed her weed eater was missing from under her carport.

SPD dispatched officers to South Main Street in reference to a fraudulent check. C/p showed officer the fraudulent check.

August 10

Officer responded to a call at West Main Street in reference to a caller needing to make a report over her ex-boyfriend harassing her. C/p stated that her and her boyfriend had broken up recently and he had been harassing her via social media since then. She also found a hidden camera in her bedroom that she believes he placed in there. She stated that he had come to her house twice since the breakup and has called her multiple times. He had also been threatening self-harm.

August 11

Officer observed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was not compliant with officers and refused to get out of the vehicle, and when she finally did, she would not listen to orders. A field sobriety test was conducted and failed along with the driver having a probation warrant. Offender was arrested.

Officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain lane and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle also had suspended registration and no insurance.

Officer observed a vehicle that was driving too fast for conditions of being in a neighborhood and conducted a traffic stop. The driver also had a suspended license for child support and failure to appear. Marijuana was found in the vehicle as well. Offender was released on citations.

Officer responded to a call on Gumlog Road in reference to a call stating that “there were too many people at the caller’s cousin’s house, and they are not supposed to be there because she is in jail.” Caller also notified that many were teens. A vehicle was observed upon arrival with a few occupants inside. There was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a search was conducted. All parents of the juveniles were contacted.

911 dispatched officers to South Main Street in reference to an irate customer. C/p stated that the offender ordered her food online and was complaining that her order was incorrect. She was demanding a refund but was informed that an online order cannot be refunded. A criminal trespass warrant was issued at the manager’s request.

911 dispatched officers to South Main Street for an unwanted person. The offender was advised that he was not wanted on the store premises because he is bothering customers and making them feel uncomfortable. He was issued a criminal trespass warning.

Officer was dispatched to Allen Street in reference to a dispute. Contact was made with c/p and offender, who were cousins. C/p stated that her daughter was staying with the offender when they began arguing so the daughter and two kids left and went to stay with c/p. She stated that when she entered the home and began gathering belongings, the offender told her that she couldn’t and began pulling her hair. She stated that when she broke loose the offender threw things. He denied ever throwing anything, but he was under the influence of alcohol.

August 12

Officer took a walk-in report where victim stated he took his car to offender in April to have some work done on it and offender still has the car and has not fixed it. C/p stated he paid offender $800 when he dropped it off four months ago. C/p advised he no longer wants offender to have possession of his vehicle and wants his money back.

Officer took a report from complainant who stated multiple transactions from his bank account totaling $3,193 had been withdrawn fraudulently.

Officer was dispatched to Grady St. in reference to a burglary. Complainant advised her bedroom window had been removed and her dresser was slightly moved.

August 13

Officer was dispatched to Budget Inn in reference to a dispute. Victim stated he saw offender cutting grass behind the motel and approached him to ask for work and offender became irate and went towards him with a weed eater. C/p stated he then backed away from offender and offender continued to threaten him, stating he would shoot him.

Officer responded to D&I Food Mart in reference to an irate, intoxicated male who had fallen out on the ground. Officer arrived and was familiar with offender and asked him if he could stand up. Offender was extremely unsteady on his feet but was finally able to stand up. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was on a traffic stop on Kite Rd. and advised officers that she heard appx. three shots fired from the area towards N. Racetrack St. Officers patrolled the area with numerous individuals advising they didn’t hear anything. Another individual from another location who wished to remain anonymous pointed officers towards Lucky St. and stated, “it’s that way”. Officers patrolled the area and didn’t see anyone out and no vehicles moving. Another individual was walking towards Jerome St. and stated he heard gun shots and stated it was time to get home.

August 14

Officer responded to Kilpatrick St. in reference to a caller needing to make a damage to vehicle report on his golf cart. C/p stated he was riding it around his yard when something on the steering malfunctioned and he hit the ditch causing damages. C/p stated the golf cart is insured and was instructed to file a report.

Officers took a walk-in report in reference to complainant stating her employer received an envelope through the mail containing a SPD report made by offender/complainant’s ex claiming c/p as offender. C/p stated she suspects offender to be the sender. C/p also informed officer that offender is the one harassing her through constant calls and text messages and calls her employer attempting to cause c/p to lose her job.

Officer took a walk-in report in reference to complainant stating her uncle had been living with her for almost a year and after an argument, he left the residence walking. C/p stated she called his phone to inform him that he left some of his property at her house and his daughter/offender answered his phone and was very irate and threatened to fight c/p. C/p stated that later, offender also made a post on Facebook threatening to fight c/p.

Officers were dispatched to Church St. in reference to a theft. Complainant stated she had been in the hospital for a month and when she returned home, she noticed a box containing ID documents were missing.

August 15

Complainant approached officer and stated he works night shift at WalMart and contacted an employee about going to work because she was missing too many days and he heard termination was almost a last resort, so he wanted her to be aware before she lost her job. C/p stated that after sending the text, a male subject went to WalMart and began looking at name tags for about 45 minutes until he found c/p, then left the store. C/p stated he then started receiving threatening text messages and social media messages from the male subject who is the employee’s boyfriend.

Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated his vehicle was involved in an accident and he took it to offender in March to have it fixed and gave offender a check for $7,000 from the insurance company for repairs. C/p stated a three-way call took place between him, offender and the insurance company on July 8 due to how long the repairs are taking to be completed.

Officers were dispatched to New St. in reference to complainant stating he has been staying with his sister for three days and his stereo and speakers and PS5 have went missing. C/p advised he believes offender climbed through a window and took his belongings.

Officer initiated a traffic stop and asked the driver for his license and noticed the driver’s speech was mumbled. Driver attempted to avoid eye contact with officer as officer observed them to be very watery and bloodshot. Officer smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath and asked him to exit the vehicle. Offender consented to the PBT and tested positive for alcohol. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Complainant went to SPD to file a report about receiving a $4,700 check and was advised it was a scam.

Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated she observed her vehicle door opened, and her handbag was missing.

Officer responded to Murphy USA in reference to a driver damaging property.

Officer responded to Williams St. in reference to damage to vehicle. Complainant stated offender fell down the side of her vehicle causing two small dents in the rear driver door. Officer attempted to speak with offender but was unable to because he was highly intoxicated.

Officer was dispatched to S. Green St. in reference to a 911 hangup call. The male subject was sitting in a chair on the front porch very calm and relaxed and stated they had a minor argument, and it was nothing serious. The female was standing on the porch and seemed agitated, pacing back and forth, raising her voice as she spoke. The female stated she called 911 due to the male subject being irate and making threats to hit her and both children talked over her and told her to stop lying. She then asked officer to make the male subject leave and was reminded that when officers responded earlier in the week, she was advised that the male subject had legal residency to the home, and they could not make him leave but did inform her of civil options to have him evicted. Officer them asked the female is she made efforts to begin the process, and she stated no. Disorderly House Ordinance citations were issued to both the female and male subjects.

Officer was dispatched to T-Mobile in reference to a report. Complainant stated she was texting offender asking for help with transportation for their children back and forth to school and he threatened her and showed up at her job and went inside and made a scene in front of employees and customers, so she told him to step outside. C/p stated they walked outside and exchanged words and offender got in his vehicle and began yelling. C/p stated she walked over to his vehicle and offender reached down beside his seat and showed her the top portion of a black handgun and told her if she made another step towards him, he was going to use it on her because he’s been wanting to use it on her. C/p stated it scared her and she went back inside and began trying to help employees close the store, then called 911 after the store closed.
