James “Jim” Thurle Murdock, 89, of Emanuel County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at a nursing home in Gray. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, October 23, at 2 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia 31032 with Rev. Dick Hoard officiating.
Jim was born May 14, 1935, in Hartselle, Alabama. He lived a full and impactful life, always guided by kindness, care, and love for those around him. A proud veteran of the United States Army, James was deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of the Swainsboro Rotary Club and the Swainsboro Chamber of Commerce. His faith was important to him, and he was always involved in church activities. Professionally, James dedicated 30 years to helping others as a chiropractor. He was also a talented writer, authoring two novels, The Blankenship Curse and Moochie’s Place. His creativity and passion for storytelling left a lasting mark on those who knew him. Mr. Murdock is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Andrea Tibble Murdock.
Mr. Murdock is survived by his two sons, Mike Murdock (Noah) and Matt Murdock (Lynn); grandchildren, Melissa Murdock, Julie Murdock, Ben Murdock, Wade Murdock, Nathan Greene and Ashton Greene; and his siblings, Steve, Esther and Maxine.
