Hazel Nella Key Colcock, 84

Mrs. Hazel Nella Key Colcock, 84, of Twin City, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services were held Monday, October 21, at 2 p.m. at Twin City Methodist Church with Reverend Randall Smith officiating. Interment followed at El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Twin City. The family received friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, October 21, at Twin City Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Hazel’s grandsons, Lawson Estridge, Mason Hamby, Matthew Hamby, Miles Hamby and Morgan Hamby.

Mrs. Hazel was born June 26, 1940, in Metter, to the late William Clark Key and Elizabeth Stewart Key. She was a member of Twin City Methodist Church for 21 years. Hazel graduated from Savannah High School in 1958 and received an associate’s degree from Armstrong College in Savannah. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, a secretary, and worked at the South Carolina United Methodist Conference Center where she served as administrative assistant to the South Carolina United Methodist Bishop, retiring after serving the last 21 years of her career in that position. After retirement, she and Charles built their home in Emanuel County on the old Parrish settlement that had belonged to her family for several years. There, she enjoyed outings with friends, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Hazel was very crafty and loved to sew and enjoyed cooking. She also loved working with her flowers. Mrs. Colcock is preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Chandler Hamby.

Mrs. Colcock is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Colcock; daughters, Stacey Amick (Carrol) of Lexington, SC and Amy Hamby (Gregg) of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Madison Patterson (Robby), Lawson Estridge (Amy), Morgan Hamby, Mason Hamby (Sarah), Miles Hamby and Mathew Hamby; great-granddaughter, Elena Chandler Hamby; first cousin, Calvin Stewart; and many, many friends.

The family would like to thank Cherry Allen for the care and love she provided.
