The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting, Monday, July 3, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. With Chair John Tapley presiding, there were 38 in attendance including two new veterans: Brittany Cleninger served in the U.S. Army from October 31, 2011, through July 28, 2013. She served at Fort Drum, NY with the 3BSTB, 3rd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division. Her highest rank was E3. Ronald Moore served in the U.S. Army from June 1987 through June 2007. He served at Fort Bragg, Fort Benning, Hunter Army Airfield and the Panama Canal. He also served in combat during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Just Cause. His highest rank was E-5. Chair Tapley welcomed the new veterans and passed out more of the cards that were given to veterans to attend the weekly Monday morning breakfast. If you are a veteran, please feel free to meet with the Veterans at the library at 9:15 a.m. each Monday morning. They would be glad to have you. Chair Tapley talked a little about the positive effect that the Veterans are having on the community through their annual "Wreaths Across America" project. The Wreaths Across America main event will take place on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Swainsboro City Cemetery on December 16th. They have set a goal this year for over 2,000 wreaths to be placed all throughout Emanuel County with many church groups participating.
