David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles won big over Twiggs Academy Varsity Trojans 10-0 on Thursday, October 16 in game one of the GIAA State Softball Playoffs in Valdosta.
David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two errors. The Eagles first got on the board when an error scored two runs.
They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Emily McRae singled to the left side of the infield, Kaley Flowers singled down the left field line, Payton Peebles doubled to center field, and Rayleigh Faircloth doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after the Trojans committed an error, Bailey McNure tripled, and Aubrey Scott flew into a double play, each scoring one run.
Faircloth earned the win for DEA. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking four.
The Eagles collected 10 hits in the game. Peebles provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and the Eagles with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Flowers went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead DEA in hits. McNure collected two hits for the Eagles in three at bats.
