After being defeated by Vidalia on Tuesday evening, Swainsboro looked to bounce back on Wednesday night (September 23) and have a good showing on Senior Recognition Night against the Montgomery County Eagles. Before the game began, the Swainsboro softball coaches recognized seniors Hillary Garvin, Kyleigh Hostilo, Carley Jersey, Holli Schoen, and Ariel Tapley for their leadership and dedication to the SHS softball program for the last four years.

Senior Hillary Garvin got the start in the circle on Senior Night for the Lady Tigers and she set down the visiting Eagles in order in the top of the first inning. In the bottom half of the inning, the Lady Tigers batted around twice and put 16 runs on the board to take a commanding lead.

Garvin and the Lady Tiger defense then held the Eagles scoreless in the top of the second inning. In the bottom of the inning, Coach Alicia Hendrix emptied the bench and the Lady Tigers scored another 13 runs on ten more hits. After holding Montgomery scoreless in the top of the third inning, the game was finally called due to the mercy rule. The final score of the game was Swainsboro 29-0.

Garvin went the distance in the circle for Swainsboro allowing zero runs on three hits in the three-inning shutout. Garvin also had a big night at the plate as she led the Lady Tigers with three hits and five RBI. Brooklynn Peebles (2-2, 2 RBI), Raelyn Romig (2-2), Kyleigh Hostilo (2-3), and Ariel Tapley (2-3, 3 RBI) also had multiple hits on the evening for Swainsboro.

On Thursday, the Lady Tigers hosted the Gryphons of ACE Charter. Swainsboro hit the ball well but could not keep pace with the Gryphons and suffered an 18-5 loss. Leading hitters for Swainsboro were Jennifer Hernandez (2-2, BB), Kyleigh Hostilo (2-3, 2 RBI), and Anna Grace Scarborough (1-3, HR).

Upcoming games for Swainsboro include Treutlen County at home on Wednesday, September 30 and Dodge County at home on Monday October 5. These will be the final two home games of the regular season and both games will start at 6pm.
