To prepare and celebrate for the Pine Tree Festival, the Blade releases an annual scavenger hunt that pays tribute to Swainsboro’s most beloved festival and gives readers a chance to have a little interactive fun while reading their morning news.

The Great Pinecone Hunt is a contest released once a year before the first weekend of May where readers are encouraged to find 15 hidden pinecones that are scattered throughout the last April edition of The Forest-Blade. Once found, players submit their entries for a chance to win $100.

In the April 26 edition, Metter resident, Nona Steele, found the 15 pinecones that were placed throughout the paper in ads and news stories, making her the 2023 winner of this annual Blade tradition. Congratulations Nona!
