SHS Bass Team brings home a State Championship!

Posted

The SHS Bass Fishing Team, under the guidance of Coach Hunter Braswell, had an unforgettable weekend and emerged victorious as State Champions. Despite being only in their second season, this team has already tasted success and made memories that will last a lifetime. The tournament, held on Clark's Hill Lake, saw two qualifying teams from SHS compete fiercely against 100 other boats.

Jacob Fagler and Mitchell Roberson were exceptional, catching almost 20 fish and finishing in the "Top 10 Boats" of the GHSA State Championship, placing 7th overall. Their hard work and strategic approach paid off, and they came very close to qualifying for the national championship. Garrett Peebles and Bo Brown also put in a commendable effort, although they fell short of their goal.

Coach Braswell expressed immense pride in both teams and congratulated them for their outstanding performances. The SHS Bass Team also extended their gratitude to Ashley Roberson and Patrick Brown, whose tireless volunteering throughout the year played a significant role in the team's success.

The program owes its success to the collective effort of everyone involved, including sponsors who helped offset the costs of participating in the sport. As the season comes to an end, the team bids farewell to their graduating seniors and wishes them luck in their future endeavors. Swainsboro has indeed made history in GHSA Bass Fishing, and we applaud both teams for their outstanding efforts.
