President Allen host Picnic-Themed Program

The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting, Tuesday, July 11, 2023. With President Tammy Allen presiding, there were 15 in attendance including one guest, Judy Wells. The Chocolate Cake, provided by President Allen, was won by Cassie McIntyre and the Domino's pizza, provided by Domino's Pizza, was won by Jeff Palmer. Chair Tim Goodman thanked all seven of the Kiwanians that helped with the Firecracker 5K in Wrightsville, Saturday, July 1. The theme of the program for the evening was “picnic” and was hosted by President Allen. Guests enjoyed fried chicken, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, and ice cream. Guest also enjoyed playing picnic bingo that was won by Jim Daughtry and Judy Wells. The member spotlight for the evening was focused on Deana Patrick. Patrick graduated from Dimond High in Anchorage, Alaska. While in high school, she was a national officer in the Future Homemakers of America and during a FHA National Convention she was invited to attend a tea at the White House that was hosted by First Lady, Pat Nixon, and First Daughter, Tricia Nixon. While living in Anchorage she worked at Reeve Aleutian Airway and Robinson Humphrey Stockbrokers.

After graduating high school, she moved to Georgia where she attended the Art Institute of Atlanta. She has been employed by KFC in Swainsboro, as well as DFACS where she retired, and is currently employed with the Franklin Memorial Library. She was married to the late Frank Patrick for 50 years and they have two children, Michelle and Adam, and a grandson, Miles. Frank passed away on Friday, July 14th at his home. Deana’s favorite candy bar is an Almond Joy.
