Mrs. Maretha Brown: 92 years of excellence

Posted

Mrs. Maretha Brown, a hometown hero in Manassas, Georgia, has served 92 years of pure excellence in her community. She is a mother of nine and the wife of the late Mr. Purley Brown. Mrs. Brown is a very influential leader in her community and has an inner desire to serve others. Having a solid standing in Christ, she is formally known for her famous day-to-day quote, “Whatever you do for the Master, let it be real.” Mrs. Brown truly is a Superwoman as she has helped many by serving on councils such as the Client Council and The Hagan City Council, where she performed a combined 47+ years of service and dedication. Due to her fearfulness, she has helped change the voting system in Evans, Ga challenging the oppressors that equality is essential. Brown had an astounding dream of operating a nutrition management program to help new mothers better care for their children's health and balance meals. This dream was brought to an end when she was diagnosed with colon cancer resulting in her losing her soon-to-be life-changing establishment. Although Mrs. Brown faced many obstacles in her lifetime, she was the change she wanted to see. In 2002, to honor her outstanding and heart-warming service, Hagan City named the newly renovated city hall the Maretha Brown Municipal Building. To this present day, her loving granddaughter, Mrs. Mariah Parker from Emanuel County, describes her as “the fighter for the underdogs and has always gone above and beyond to help bring positive changes in her community”.

So, Mrs. Brown, we say thank you for 92 years of outstanding heroism!
