Local races get the political pot stirring

Politics in Emanuel County will be getting warmer as we head toward 2024’s national elections. City races for the Nov. 7 general election this Fall in Swainsboro,Twin City and Stillmore as well as a special county election to fill an unexpired term of Emanuel County School Board are all right around the corner. Qualifying has already passed for the school board District One seat with three candidates slated for the ballot. Pam Riner Baggett, Robert Frew and A.Brandon Jones have all qualified. Early voting for this unexpired term begins on August 28 leading up to the September 19th election day. Polling places will be at City Hall buildings in Twin City and Garfield.

In Swainsboro, city council seats in Wards 1,2 and 5 are up for grabs. The qualifying period for these positions begins August 21, 2023 through August 24, 2023 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm and August 25, 2023 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Qualifying takes place at the Emanuel County Elections Office at 105 South Main St., Swainsboro, Ga..

In Twin City, 2 council commission seats are to be decided this November. Qualifying for these posts in Wards 1 and 2 will begin August 21, 2023 through August 23, 2023 from 9:00am to 4:30pm and on August 25 from 9:00 am to 12:00pm. Qualifying shall take place at the City Hall Building in Twin City.

The City of Stillmore will hold qualifying for 2 positions on city council as well as the post of Mayor. Qualifying periods for these races will be August 21, 2023 through August 23, 2023 from 9:00am to 4:30 pm at the Emanuel County Elections Office at 105 South Main St., Swainsboro, Ga.
