The Swainsboro Exchange Club annually honors Emanuel County’s First Responders with an appreciation lunch. This event was held at East Georgia State College on Tuesday, April 16. The highlight of the program is the presentation of the Bobby Powell Award, former Chief of Police for Swainsboro. Chief Powell responded to a domestic dispute where he was shot by one of the parties and died of his wounds on June 12, 1980.

Chief Deputy Nick Robertson started his law enforcement career in 2009 and has worked in the Uniform Patrol, Traffic and Investigation Divisions. He has been with the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office since 2013 and was appointed as Chief Deputy, second in command, on January 1, 2021. Congratulations Chief Deputy Robertson!
