Guild visits Rountree Ranch

Posted

The Emanuel Artists Guild held its meeting at Rountree Ranch on July 11. Host Amber Albritton gave a tour of her family property. Before visiting the residence the group toured the amazing grounds which have a large variety of unusual plants and several interesting buildings that function in her various interests.

After viewing the many works of art and other fascinating items in the home, members had a brief meeting. Tentative dates were set for two upcoming events. East Georgia State College will host The Kalmanson Effect, a tribute to Neil Kalmanson in October. The public is invited to participate in this effort. Round canvases will be available at the Kalmanson Gallery.

The Guild show in the Kalmanson Gallery will be during March-April 2024. Members will select one or two pieces, depending on size, for display. Hanging work must be wired. Pedestals will be available for three-dimensional work.

The Guild will host the reception for the upcoming art opening on Thursday, July 20 from 5-7 p.m. of the exhibition by Eileen Dudley. Members are encouraged to attend and help promote interest in the group, both in visual and performing arts.

Also discussed was working with the City of Swainsboro on promoting the arts Downtown. Possibilities include art strolls, art on display in businesses, open mic nights, a block party, and murals. Jen Meadows and Joan Dunn will attend the next Downtown Development Authority and Business Owners meetings.

The next Guild meeting will be Tuesday, July 25 at 7 p.m. in the Kalmanson Gallery. Our official photo from the group will be taken at that time by Kim Youmans. Members are invited to dress artistically, which, of course, depends on personal interpretation.

The Guild will meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in The Kalmanson Gallery. For more information, please join the EAG group page on Facebook.
