Emanuel Artists Guild is back

The Emanuel Artists Guild, which has been on hiatus for several years, has made a comeback. This club is for anyone interested in the visual arts and would like to be a part of the creative process of making art.

The club works in an informal environment. Past amenities of this club include workshops, drawing live models, and field trips to museums and art galleries in surrounding cities including Augusta, Savannah, and Atlanta. The Guild also showcased their own artwork in several art exhibitions at the previous EAC location on the corner of North Green and West Church streets. “This is definitely a possibility again,” said Jacquie Brasher, Emanuel Arts Council director. “The Kalmanson Gallery has always been an ideal venue to showcase art from a local guild. Now that we are in our new home, I can’t think of a better way to make the local art scene vibrant again.” Brasher pointed out that several surrounding counties have their own artists guilds that are currently thriving in their respective communities.

Brasher clarified that the Emanuel Artists Guild, although under the umbrella of the Emanuel Arts Council, is a separate organization. “We provide the location—in this case, The Kalmanson Gallery—for them to meet, discuss art projects, and create art. The guild itself will be its own entity.”

Anyone who would like to be a part of this group is invited to attend the next meeting on Tuesday, June 27th at 7 p.m. in The Kalmanson Gallery at 109 North Green Street. Or, for more information, contact Candy Powers at 478-494-9297.
