October 11

Deputy responded to Fairground Rd. in reference to property damage. C/p advised she went home and discovered her camper had been damaged by some bricks found in the yard. C/p also advised she’s been having trouble with some neighborhood kids looking in her windows and messing with her property.

Deputy met with c/p on Keas Old Millpond Road in reference to a theft incident. Items were left on a pond dam along with footprints being found. C/p named two separate individuals who he believes could be possible suspects.

October 14

Deputies responded to I16 in reference to complainant stating a vehicle in front of him hit a deer and it came back and hit his vehicle, causing minor damage.

Deputy met with complainant where he stated he has been leasing hunting land on Old Savannah Rd. for appx. four years and found his hunting equipment was gone. C/p got in touch with offender who advised he is the son of the original property owner who leased the land to c/p and told c/p he thought the equipment belonged to someone who was trespassing on the property and removed it. Offender was said to have taken the items to Valdosta. Offender also told c/p that he didn’t know there was a hunting lease on the land when it was given to him by his mother. It was confirmed that there is a lease on the land. C/p advised he has been in contact with offender about getting his property back, however offender is in NC and will not confirm when the property will be returned. Items in question are valued at $370.

October 15

Victim stated he told offender he could stay in a small apartment during the hurricane and now wants offender out. Deputy spoke with offender who stated he’s been staying there for two months and has been doing repair work on the apartment for rent payment for the last two months. There is no rental contract between the two so deputy advised victim of the eviction process through Magistrate Court. Offender also stated victim went to his apartment while his girlfriend was sleeping and startled her,

Deputy met with complainant who stated she had gas delivered to her residence and the driver hit her well and pump. C/p stated the driver provided his supervisor’s name and email and she contacted them by phone and was told they would send someone out to check the damages.

C/p stated that he noticed the license plate on his vehicle was missing and he does not know if it had fallen off or it was stolen.

October 16

C/p came to SPD to make a report. C/p stated that after the hurricane a group of people posted on Facebook that they were looking for people to help remove limbs from people’s yards. They said they would pay cash and c/p agreed to help. When the work was done c/p received two checks that bounced. C/p was told to get a police report.

October 17

Deputy received a report from c/p advising that after the hurricane, she had damage to her air condition window unit.

Deputy got a phone call from the DCS who stated that a sex offender could not be located. Deputy had not seen his since he registered last year. She stated that she went and checked his listed residence and he was not there and was believed to be in Ohio where he is from. A warrant was taken out for failure to register.

October 18

C/p came in for a report. He stated that he received food stamps and that his funds went missing after he received them. The following day he received emergency funds and later that day those funds were missing as well.

October 19

Listed vehicle was traveling on I-16 around the area of a construction zone when an unknown item made contact with the mirror on her vehicle resulting in damage.

Deputy was dispatched to Fairground Road in reference to the offender discharging a firearm onto another property. C/p advised that her neighbor was shooting into the woods and was a convicted felon. No shell casings were observed in the yard or any other evidence of discharging the firearm. Deputy responded to Old Kenfield Road and spoke with c/p who stated that he was receiving messages from a number that he didn’t recognize. The message listed his name, address, and family member’s manes and ages. It also stated that a person from an organization was the sender of these messages and that they had business to discuss and that it was in his best interest to talk to him in person to resolve the situation. Deputy believed that c/p had been scammed due to the fact that he was sending offender money. Deputies were dispatched to meet with c/p on Lambs Bridge Road in reference to a stolen trailer. C/p stated that he left his trailer beside the roadway after the hurricane and there was a hitch lock on it. He noticed the trailer was gone two days later.
