ECHS to host Fall Festival Open House

Posted

The Emanuel County Historic Society will host its Fall Harvest Open House Saturday, October 21 from 1-6 p.m. We are located across from the Jaycee Fairground so maybe you can come over after attending the Fair that afternoon! The photo shows our turpentine still which some think is a huge

moonshine still. We have many items celebrating this history of our county which formed around the longleaf pine tree in the late 1790s when a tree reached eight feet or better in diameter. Spread a tape measure on the floor and see how big that is! We hope you will come out and visit our 1800s buildings. A lot of history is displayed on our little Longview Farm and in the Home Museum building. No admission is charged. Need information? Please call Missy 478-763-3631.
