East Georgia State College speaks to Veterans

The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting Monday, July 24, at 9:15 a.m. at the Franklin Memorial Library. With Chair John Tapley Tapley presiding, there were 42 in attendance. After enjoying breakfast prepared by Sherri Watt of breakfast casserole, cut watermelon, cut cantaloupe, donuts, coffee and different juices, Chair Tapley introduced members of the Athletic department at East Georgia State College who gave an overview of the program and the department. The EGSC staff is composed of Theo Howard, AD & Head Women's Basketball Coach; Hawley Ill, Head softball coach; Travis Garrett, Assistant AD & Head Men's Basketball Coach; and Jason Mock, Head Baseball Coach. Each instructor gave a description of their team, what they have accomplished in the past and what they hoped to accomplish in the near future. They also discussed how they were dedicated to help each one of their players develop character and leadership qualities. Coach Howard pledged the help of his department with any assistance they could provide to the Veterans group with the "Wreaths Across America" project. Chair Tapley gave the EGSC staff a brief description of the WAA project and some of the tasks that they could possibly assist with . If you are a Veteran, they would like to invite you to join them and have breakfast each Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the Franklin Memorial Library. Just show up.
