EAC summer art camp returns

Posted

The annual Summer Art Camp of Emanuel Arts Council will once again be held at The Sudie Fulford Community Center of East Georgia State College. The three-day camp will be held June 20-22 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is limited to 20 students in rising third through fifth grades. The EAC Art Camp is made possible through a generous grant from Mill Creek Foundation.

TERRIE DANIEL, Art Instructor

Terrie is our instructor for the EAC Art Camp this year and was an assistant in a previous art camp. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University where she has been fine-tuning her skills in Etching and Painting. After graduating with her Associates Degree in Art (Spring 2019) from East Georgia State College, she furthered her education with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts from Georgia Southern University. She is currently pursuing a master’s in fine arts from GSU. Terrie was a featured artist at The Kalmanson Gallery of EAC during January-February of this year.

MARK LILLQUIST, Art Assistant

Mark is no stranger to the EAC art camps. He has been the instructor of each camp from 2017 to 2021 (with the exception of 2020, of course). This summer, Mark has decided to take the position of art assistant, for a change of pace. He has been the art teacher at Emanuel County Institute since 2005. He is not only an artist, but a musician and writer as well; he likes to record music and write songs. He has given away pastel art works in Japan, Africa, California, and just about everywhere he has “been more than a minute.” Mark says that to him, art is incommensurable with money, “for dreams are free, and so is their expression.” He is currently enjoying listening to Sade, smooth jazz, Indian vibes, and The Duke Ellington stations on Pandora.

DANIELLA DELGADO, Art Assistant

Daniella is joining the Art Camp team for the first time this year. She is a 2023 honor graduate of Swainsboro High School, and a Senior Superlative. She is also a dual-enrollment student at East Georgia State College. She was the SHS Band of Gold Dance Line captain, member of the Beta Club, FBLA, Yearbook staff, and National Society of High School Scholars. Daniella has worked with primary and elementary school students through the Beta Club, and has also volunteered with Weekend Blessings.
