DeMills named Director of Housing at East Georgia State College

Sheldon DeMills has been named the East Georgia State College (EGSC) Director of Housing and will lead the office of housing’s services for residential students.

DeMills began his career in higher education at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach working with both housing and New Student Services. He served as a graduate assistant with Georgia Southern University in the Office of Admissions while earning his Master of Education in Counseling.

A native of the Bronx, New York, DeMills earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bethune-Cookman. He is on track to complete his M.Ed. in Counseling at Georgia Southern University in December of 2023. DeMills has been serving his practicum at EGSC for his M.Ed. in counseling during the Spring semester of this year. He is a member of The Association of Black Psychologists, ABPsi.

"During his practicum, Sheldon impressed me with his empathy and understanding of our students and their needs,” said Sherrie Helms, Associate Vice President for Conduct & Title IX. “I am excited about his new ideas and vision for EGSC Housing and Residential Life, and he is bringing that spirit of change and improvement to support our students. I know already that he works well with our team and will work well with all our faculty and staff here at EGSC.”
