“Coming Attractions”

On Thursday of last week, a new show premiered at the Karrh Theater in downtown

Swainsboro. The star of the show was the theater itself and the amazing changes that have

taken place in the continuing renovation of the 1935 jewel of downtown Swainsboro. Melissa

Kirby, Downtown Development Authority Director provided a tour for interested citizens and

supporters of the project, and the consensus of the group was a glowing endorsement of the

work that is progressing. Director Kirby commented, “There is still much work to be completed, but I think everyone agreed that the progress we see here reminds us all of the importance and the potential of bringing this historical showpiece back to life.” In addition to the tour, the group was also informed of upcoming grants and plans for future efforts to complete work. Thanks to the Mayor and city council, the Karrh Theater is moving closer and closer to bringing live performances, a variety of cultural events, and state-of-the-art first run movies back to downtown for the benefit of everyone in our community.
