Compatriot Steve Burke, Wiregrass Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution set up his 6-pounder Field Cannon in downtown Millen to support the Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce. Burke was asked by the Chamber to demonstrate his cannon and talk to five classes consisting of over 100 students at the Jenkins County School system. Burke discussed the weapons systems that the Patriots used during the American Revolution and what happened at the nearby Brier Creek Battlefield on March 3, 1779. At the end of each session, he fired his 6-pounder Field Cannon.
