On May 8, 2023, Jayson L. Brown was awarded the Eloise Vining Scholarship from The Progressive Ladies Club during Swainsboro High School Honors Night Program, and received numerous recognitions for his accomplishments. Brown, an Honor Graduate of Swainsboro High school and dual enrollment student at East Georgia State College, has been accepted and will be attending Georgia Southern University, pursuing a degree in Music Education. Presenting the award was Progressive Ladies Club Vice President and Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee Verdell Brinson and Secretary Brenda Mosley.
Ms. Vining was a retired educator, teaching for 42 years in the Emanuel County school system. She lived to reach the age of 103. Her legacy will continue to live on through her Progressive Ladies Club which was founded by her more than 60 years ago.
