AJC Super 11

Swainsboro High School DeMello Jones has been selected as a 2023 AJC Super 11. DeMello is a senior at Swainsboro High School. The Super 11 is one of Georgia's most prestigious statewide awards for high school athletes. Swainsboro has had countless outstanding football players, but DeMello is only the second player to receive this recognition. SHS's other selection was current Principal Brandon Andrews in 2000.

What is the AJC Super 11?

In 1985 the Atlanta Journal and Constitution began selecting 11 top players from across the state and called them the Super 11. Several factors go into selection, including team success. Playing on a good team and having good teammates is a plus. However, many of the players selected have outstanding individual stats and achievements. Many of the players are also heavily recruited by colleges.

Other media outlets select top players for their areas, i.e., Middle Georgia, South Georgia, and Central Georgia, but the AJC covers the entire state. The AJC Super 11 comprises athletes from the whole state.. Choosing 11 players from the thousands of athletes playing football in this talent-rich state is difficult. This selection means that sportswriters feel you are one of the best players in the state. The players who make this list are exceptional. The designation of Super 11 will remain with them forever. This title will always be a cherished award.

DeMello Jones is an outstanding young man. He represents himself, his family, school, and community with distinction on and off the field. DeMello is continuing the rich Swainsboro athletic history and raising the bar even higher for other athletes to aspire to obtain.

Congratulations, DeMello Jones, and continued success.
