Mr. Willie James Worthen, age 61, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Augusta Medical University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 11, at Helen Clark Memorial Park in Louisville with Bro. Vinson Cason officiating. Inhumation followed in the Eden Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing was Monday, July 10, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Pallbearers were his nephews.

Willie James was born August 10, 1961, in Swainsboro, to the late William and Alice Worthen. He received his education in the Emanuel County School System. Upon graduation, Willie James enlisted into the United States Army and served three years. On May 18, 1996, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Myers. Willie James gave us such courage and hope; forever reminding us of the preciousness of life. His legacy, humbleness, love, and care will live on in each of us living life to the fullest. Willie James will be remembered by having a heart of gold. Moreover, he treasured his time with family and friends. Willie James was also an amazing gardener and cook. Mr. Worthen leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories to his wife, Sharon Myers Worthen of Louisville; children, Wesley J. Worthen of Atlanta, Donald Harris, Jr. of Louisville, Shalonda Brown of Hephzibah, Cherrelle Boyd (Eric) of Louisville, Ashley Worthen of St. Pierce, FL and LaKesdra Stanton of Louisville; sisters, Diane Roundtree of Tampa, FL, Vernon Worthen, Cynthia Williams (Greg), and Carla Worthen, all of Swainsboro; brothers, George Worthen (Sherita) of Louisville, Bennie Guyton, Lamar Franklin (Cheryal), Vernell Worthen, Alex Worthen (Cynthia), Santonio Worthen, Tolly Worthen, Wesley Worthen and Clifton Worthen, all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Tre’Dyeis Brown, Cemijah Brown, Eriel Boyd, Ta’Nyhia Harris, Eric Boyd, Jr. and Ethan Boyd; aunt, Bobbie Jean Guyton of Swainsboro; uncles, Marvin Worthen, Terry Worthen, Dannie Worthen, Dennis Mason (Frieda), Jimmy Seabrough (Ethel Lou), Eddie Guyton, all of Swainsboro and Joe Guyton of Douglas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
