On Thursday, March 26, the DEA Varsity Girls Tennis Team earned impressive victories over Robert Toombs Christian Academy (RTCA) and Thomas Jefferson Academy (TJA).
Against RTCA, the Lady Eagles dominated in singles play. Emily McRae defeated Kinsley Kennedy 8-0, Lyla Martin cruised past Madeline Wolfe 8-0, and Aubrey Scott earned an 8-1 win over Chesney Burch. Claire Metcalf battled but fell to Sarabeth Hamilton 1-8.
DEA continued its strong performance in doubles action against RTCA. Kaley Flowers and Payton Peebles shut out Braylin Pittman and Anna Kate Joyner 8-0, while Kate Yeomans and Sydney Lively secured an 8-4 victory over Kailen Brantley and Maddie Grace Palma. Emily McRae and Addalyn Terwilliger blanked Addyson Smith and Dakota Register 8-0, and Lyla Martin and Aubrey Scott completed the sweep with an 8-0 win over Vivi Paez and Lizzy Sapp.
In the matchup against TJA, Emily McRae led the way in singles with an 8-1 victory over Camryn Taylor. In doubles play, Kate Yeomans and Sydney Lively picked up an 8-4 win against Addie McClellan and Braylie Guy. Kaley Flowers and Payton Peebles fell 5-8 to Caroline McNeely and Chelsey Miller, and Claire Metcalf and Addalyn Terwilliger were narrowly defeated 5-8 by Avery Beasley and Anna Hudson.
The Lady Eagles showcased depth and consistency across both matches, highlighted by dominant singles play and strong performances in doubles.
The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to the region tournament which will be held at East Georgia State College on Monday April 13th.
On Thursday, March 26, the DEA Boys Tennis Team competed in a doubleheader at East Georgia State College against Thomas Jefferson Academy (TJA) and Robert Toombs Christian Academy (RTCA), earning victories in both matches.
In the matchup against TJA, River Holloway led the way in singles with a dominant 8-0 win over James Martin. Eli Way battled but fell to Ethan Hayes 2-8. In doubles play, Paxton Dixon and Ben Griner secured an 8-1 victory over Landon Willis and Jonathan Lindner, while AJ Edenfield and Jack Evan Fields delivered a strong performance with an 8-0 win over Ryder Rabun and Tyler Thigpen.
Against RTCA, the Eagles put together a strong showing in singles. Paxton Dixon defeated Karson Kennedy 8-2, Matthew Fordham earned an 8-5 win over Yates Pye, and Lawton Wiggins added another victory with an 8-5 decision over Riley Hinson. In doubles action, AJ Edenfield and Jack Evan Fields continued their solid play, defeating Karson Kennedy and Yates Pye 8-2.
The Eagles demonstrated depth and consistency throughout the day, picking up two team wins with strong performances in both singles and doubles competition.
