Mr. Tom Parris, age 69, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023. A Celebration of Life and Legacy was held Wednesday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church in Garfield with Pastor Amos Handsom officiating and Deacon George Bady presiding. Interment followed at Willow Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Tom was born May 7, 1954, in Emanuel County, to the late Milton Parrish and Trudie McNure. He served 30 years in the US Army Reserve and retired from Norfolk Southern after 37 faithful years. Tom was an avid drag racer, and his favorite pastime was spent working on his car “The Rooster”. Mr. Parris is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie James McNear and Milton Parrish; sister, Ruthie Mae Kirkland; and son, Cedric Harmon.
Mr. Parrish leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Martha Parrish; sons, Tellis (Katina) Parrish of Pooler and Alex (Mikeani) Parrish of Statesboro; daughters, Ariane (Kelvin) Branch of Garfield and Felicia Parris of Dublin; six sisters, Earnestine Green, Essie Parrish and Betty Wright, all of Ohio, Annie (Robert) Williams of Charleston, SC, Lillie Ruth Williams of Tampa, FL, and Lessie Johnson of Swainsboro; eleven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
