The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting, Monday, September 21, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. With Gary Mason presiding, there were 42 in attendance. Newest veteran to attend the weekly meeting is Joel Josephus Moring III. Joel served in the U. S. Navy from June 16, 1962, through June 1964. He served aboard the USS Hunley AS 31 and was also stationed at Newport News, VA and Dunoon, Argyle, Scotland. Mason then introduced Missy and George Elder from the Emanuel County Historical Preservation Society to present their program on Emanuel County's Historical John C. Coleman Hotel. They gave a slide presentation on the history of the John C. Colman Hotel and what it means to preserve Emanuel Counties history instead of tearing it all down in the name of progress. If you are a veteran, please attend the weekly meetings at the library each Monday at 9:15 a.m. for an hour of fellowship and free breakfast. The September 21, meeting included a breakfast of casserole, grapes, oranges, muffins, sausage biscuits, coffee, apple juice and orange juice.
