Terry Worthen, age 66, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his home. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, August 5, at St. Phillips Baptist Church with Evangelist Alex Worthen officiating and Pastor Malachi Lockett presiding. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Terry was born February 8, 1957. He was a 1977 graduate of the Emanuel County School system. Terry was a great football player and was giving the name “Bear” by his teammates. Upon graduation, Terry enlisted in the US Army and later enlisted in the National Guard, serving many tours of duty. On March 11, 2023, he was joined in holy matrimony to Dorene Bright. Mr. worthen is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Annie Lois, Helen, Albert, Alma, William, Ella, George, Jimmy Dell, Tommy, Leroy and Troy.
Mr. Worthen leaves to cherish his memories with his wife; daughter, Candi Byrd of Auburn, AL; stepdaughters, Mattilyn B. Ward of Augusta and Angelica Bright of Dublin; stepson, Matthew Bright JR. of Atlanta; brothers, Marvin Worthen, Dannie Worthen, Jimmy Seabrough, Dennis Mason, all of Swainsboro; grandson, Aubrey Byrd; nine step-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Jaunita Worthen, Min. Ella Mae Worthen and Jamie Worthen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
