Super Bowl weekend brought even more excitement for Swainsboro as the Region 1 Division 4 flag football honors were officially announced, and the Lady Tigers made a strong statement across the region. Several Swainsboro athletes were recognized for their performance this season, highlighting both the individual talent and the continued growth of the program.
Leading the way was McKinley Walden, who was named Defensive Player of the Region, an award voted on by area coaches based on season performance, impact, and statistics. Walden’s consistent presence and ability to make game-changing plays helped anchor the Swainsboro defense throughout the year.
Jalaya Freeman earned First Team All-Area honors after a standout season filled with playmaking performances and leadership on the field. Her ability to step up in key moments made her one of the most respected players in the region.
Swainsboro also placed two athletes on the Second Team All-Area, with Kylie Brown and Tramyra Brown representing the Lady Tigers with strong performances throughout the season. Their consistency and effort played an important role in the team’s success.
Additional recognition came in the form of All-Area Honorable Mention selections, with Jordi Armstrong, Hayden Burke, Millie Kingsberry, and KK Murphy each earning acknowledgment for their contributions during the season. The number of players recognized across multiple award categories reflects the depth of talent within the Swainsboro roster and the continued development of the program.
Head Coach Alexandria Walden expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments following the announcement, noting that the awards reflect the work the players put in long before game day. She emphasized that the recognition is not only about individual honors, but also about the culture the team continues to build through discipline, teamwork, and commitment to improvement.
With multiple players honored across the region, the Lady Tigers continue to demonstrate the strength and promise of their flag football program. A team banquet is planned for later this spring to celebrate the season and the achievements of the players, as Swainsboro looks ahead to continued success in the years to come.
