The Seedling Garden Club met October 12 at the Edenfield Inn. Diana Malone served as hostess for the meeting. Using a fall theme, an array of sandwiches, chesses, and deserts were served.

President Lucille Braswell welcomed all that were present and gave a special welcome to Mary Pate Gay and Kim Lamb, new members to join the club.

In the place of the traditional inspiration, members bowed in silent prayer to pray for our nation and all those that are affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Minutes from the last held meeting and the club’s financial report were reviewed approved as read.

In the short business session, the club voted to table different projects that was presented at the last meeting. President Braswell announced that the Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker will be re-dedicated on November 11, 2020 at 1 p.m. The marker will be placed in front of Emanuel County Courthouse. Special guests will be the president of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. along with board members and Oleander District board members.

Malone, Oleander District director, congratulated the club for winning first place in National Garden Clubs for the Flower Show held in 2019. She presented President Braswell with the certificate and purple rosette sent from national. The flower show entitled "Georgia on my Mind," was held  at East Georgia College Fulford Center. This was a Pine Tree Festival event and was held in cooperation with the Swainsboro Kiwanis Club and assistance of the Glad Garden Club.

To add to the excitement of a big win, the club held its annual auction. Serving as auctioneer was Director Malone. Members brought a number of fall and Christmas items to be auctioned. Everyone had a great time bidding against each other, friendly, of course. This is the only money-making project the club has.

Upcoming club meetings will be held at The First United Methodist Church social hall, with the exception of May, unless indicated otherwise in the club’s monthly call letter. The upcoming May venue is on a to-be-announced status. Monthly meetings are currently scheduled as follows:
