Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Ritchie P. Williamson, age 70, of Oak Park, on Saturday, June 23, 2023, at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, following an extended illness. Private graveside services will be held at Pendleton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.
Ritchie was born on February 15, 1953, in Toombs County, to “R.L.” and Rose Ella Williamson. He attended school in Oak Park and Swainsboro and graduated Swainsboro High School Class of 1971. Ritchie then went on to graduate with an A.A degree from East Georgia Junior College and later completed his B.A. degree from Georgia Southern. He was a P.E. teacher at Collins Elementary School, and also served a term as a councilman for the City of Oak Park. Ritchie enjoyed sports and played softball on several men’s teams. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, following them as much as possible. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Dessie Williamson and Lillie and Rufus Williamson, all of Oak Park; and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his brother, Eddie Williamson of Oak Park; and several cousins and extended family.
