Richard Phillips passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the age of 46, after an extended illness.
Richard was employed with UPS in Swainsboro for more than 20 years as a truck driver. His family, coworkers, and friends knew him as a very direct, straight forward, and honest man of his word. He loved to laugh and enjoyed talking to people. He also loved to travel, try new foods, fish, and race. He was passionate about Fords, especially Mustangs. He loved to collect and sell them.
He read everything that he could get his hands on and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. Richard leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother, Ms. Barbara J. Phillips; siblings, Regina (Jimmy) Robinson, Dawn (Dexter) Joseph, Jacqueline Gerald, Joann Phillips, Wanda Phillips, Malvin Phillips, and Patrick Phillips; honorary sister, Bulia Anthony; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Richard especially loved to spoil his closest nephews and nieces, JR, Zek, Madison, Miniya, and Naomi. He called them his “Mustang protégés”. Richard and his family appreciated his extra brothers, Willie Williams, Chase Lamb, Darrell Smith, Paul McCullough, and Billy Wade.
