Now That’s Freedom

I find it very fitting to share this message with you as we draw close to Independence Day. I met a man who gave me a true representation of what real freedom looks like. I know he will not mind me revealing his name.

Mr. Newman Smith and I met fellowshipping at a revival. We connected and he began to share his testimony with me. Mr. Newman was a man who was on the FBI’s most wanted list and was incarnated a few times. While in prison, Mr. Newman met King Jesus and was radically saved. His testimony describes the scripture, John 8:34-36 (NKJV). It reads as, “34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.“

As I look around at our society today, I sadly pier at bondage people live in. I see people bound by anxiety, depression, fear, religion, unforgiveness, and various sins. I can sympathize with them as I was also in a state of bondage before. Even though, I never had shackles nor handcuffs on, I was not free in my mind. I read the scripture that said that Jesus will make me free, so I gave Him control of my life. I found true freedom in Jesus. I offer this consolation to everyone reading this, if you believe on the name of Jesus and let Him have control of your life, you will be set free from whatever has caused you not to feel free and enjoy this side of life. We will have a life after this one but no need to wait to enjoy the life God has granted us inside of Him.

Let’s enjoy this freedom now. It may seem difficult to let go of past hurt and shame, but it feels so good to be free from its control. You should join people like Mr. Newman and myself in this walk with Christ. Jesus would love to give you His life in exchange for your broken one.

If you are interested in hearing Mr. Newman Smith’s full testimony, you can find it on YouTube by searching his name. If you are interested in the one who set us free, all you have to do is lift your hand towards heaven and call on the name of Jesus and He will live in your heart and begin to set you free. If you have decided to be set free, I say Happy Independence Day to you in the name of Jesus!!!
