There will be two sets of hard-to –fill shoes at the Downtown Development Authority meetings in 2022. Daisy Reeves and Gary Mason will be stepping down on December 31 after many years of outstanding dedication and service to the city.

“Both Daisy and Gary are veterans of long hours of work that have made a major difference in how our City looks and operates”, commented Mayor Charles Schwabe at a recent award ceremony at the Main Street Market. “ Whether its staging a parade or festival downtown, working to recruit new business, or searching for grants to enhance City parks or public spaces, these two have been great volunteers for Swainsboro. “

Mason has served as chairman of the authority for five years and Reeves is the longest serving member of the organization. The mayor concluded his comments by extending the formal thanks of the City of Swainsboro and encouraged everyone to express their personal congratulations to the retiring members.
