Mrs. Mary Helen Fields, 95, of Swainsboro, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Swainsboro Nursing Home in Swainsboro following a brief illness. Funeral service was held Sunday, July 30, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral home with Dr. Bob Blankenship Officiating. The family received friends Sunday, July 30, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Weston Fields, Cooper Fields, Colby Brewer, Jack Evan Fields, Ethan Fields, Albert Hall, and Doc Claxton Jr.

Mrs. Fields was born October 26, 1927, in Stillmore, to the late Luther Nasworthy and Thelma Dukes Nasworthy. Mary Helen spent her youth in Stillmore, attending school there. Later she met and married John Fields and moved to Swainsboro. Mary Helen worked and retired from Swainsboro Sportswear. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Emanuel County Hospital after she retired. Mary Helen enjoyed cooking, yardwork, and being a caring sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. In earlier years, she filled her weekends with visits to her children and grandchildren, sisters, and brothers. It could easily be said that she lived for her family. Mrs. Fields is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Fields; grandson, Jonathan Fields; sister, Catherine Preston; brothers, Luther Nasworthy, Jr. and Frank Nasworthy.

Mrs. Fields is survived by her sons, Johnny Fields (Ann), Mike Fields and Donnie Wayne Fields, all of Swainsboro; sister, Shirley Claxton (Doc) of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Michelle Fields, Jacob Fields (Sierra), Weston Fields (Ramsee), Cooper Fields (Jenny) and Abby Edenfield (Mikey); great-grandchildren, Ethan Fields, Jack Evan Fields, Mary Bess Fields, Weslee Fields, Asher Edenfield, Sawyer Edenfield, Tully Fields, Audie Fields, Ileigh Fields, Colby Brewer, Corey Fields and Bentley Archer Fields; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
