On Saturday, October 7, at 11 a.m., members of the Colby Smith family met at the Bethany Baptist Church four miles outside of Harrison for their 43rd reunion. In addition to family members, there were 10 members of the Skunk Brigade, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution. Reunion President Dess Smith III welcomed everyone, with Bernard Martin blessing the food. Following a great covered dish meal, President Dess introduced Bernard Martin and Steve Burke who presented their program on "Christianity and Survival during the Revolutionary War". After a short agenda of business, the meeting moved outside for a three-round volley by the flintlock rifles and four six-pounder cannons.
