Letter to the Editor: A public “thank-you” to the angels of EMC is due

Posted

Dear editor,
It seems that the only times Emanuel Medical Center is mentioned, it's nothing but negative comments.

On Tues., Oct. 20, I began having chills and my fever rose to 103 degrees. My son drove me to EMC, where tests were run and I tested positive for COVID and also had pneumonia. Treatment began immediately and I was later moved from the ER to ICU, where I spent the next four days.

I would like to publicly thank my angels for the exceptional care I received: Chelsea Sutton, Chelsea Jones, Sue Quigley, Salissa Cooper, and Logan Rogers.

On Thursday night, I began having flashbacks about vietnam and was thinking of my River Rat brothers who recently passed away, one on hospice two others with cancer. I had a total meltdown. Thank you, Logan, for standing beside me, holding my hand, and reassuring me until I was able to settle down. To each of you, my life has been enriched by my encounter with

y'all. Thanks also to Dr. Howard for your care and concern.
The only problem I had was they ran an EKG and began making preparations to transport me to Statesboro. I got that cleared up when I told them to contact my cardiologist. He assured them everything was fine and he was continually monitoring my condition. I've had open heart surgery, a stint and am in heart block second degree.

Did I say “problem”? “Concern,” for my well-being, is the word!!!

Folks, we have medical personnel that are second to none. Please, at every opportunity, thank them for their care and concern.
Thank y'all from the bottom of my heart!
