Lady Eagles earn walk-off win over Citizens Christian Academy

It came down to the wire on Thursday, September 5, as David Emanuel Academy Varsity Lady Eagles grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 5-4, over Citizens Christian Academy Varsity Lady Patriots. The Lady Eagles were down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Payton Peebles singled, scoring two runs. The Lady Patriots got on the board in the top of the eighth inning the Eagles committed an error, and Kortlyn Bennett scored after tagging up, each scoring one run. The Lady Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to an error, and a single by Aubrey Scott. The Lady Patriots took the lead in the top of the ninth. Gracie Giddens doubled, scoring two runs, to give the Patriots the leg up, 4-2. The Eagles jumped into the lead in the bottom of the ninth when an error scored one run, and Peebles singled, scoring two runs. Kyli Bell earned the win for the Lady Eagles. The reliever gave up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Giddens took the loss for Citizens Christian Academy Varsity Lady Patriots. The righty went four and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs (zero earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking two. Scott began the game for DEA. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over eight innings, striking out seven and walking two. Peighton Harper began the game for Citizens Christian Academy Varsity Lady Patriots. The pitcher surrendered four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Peebles provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Eagles with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Bailey McNure and Kaley Flowers were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for David Emanuel Academy. The Lady Eagles turned one double play in the game.
