The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting, Tuesday night, October 3, at the Rustic Grille at 7 p.m. With President Cheryl Goodman presiding, they had 23 in attendance including guest Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz. The Gentilly cake, donated by Tim Goodman, was won by Bobby Seamans. The Domino' pizza, donated by Domino's, was won by Petite Garrett. Immediate-Past-President Tammy Allen recognized Wanda Ellis as the 2022-2023 Kiwanian-of-the-Year. The program was given by Tim Goodman who presented the annual Youth Protection Training to the club, outlining Kiwanis International’s Youth Protection Policies and Procedures and club requirements. Petite Garrett gave a report on the Herrington Homestead Pizza Party. Cindy Ware, who chairs the Herrington Homestead Committee, and Petite hosted nine children and their parents. Paul Cerpovicz and Tim Goodman gave an update on the Family and Fun Day at EGSC. Paul reported on the honey extraction and Tim reported on the Kiwanis popcorn giveaway. Circle K’er Bryan Priester assisted with cooking the popcorn and the Art Club won the Duct-Tape Regatta. President Cheryl read a letter from the Franklin Memorial Library thanking Kiwanis for their help this past year and looking forward to their help this year. President Cheryl announced they would be helping with three upcoming events in October. There is a Trunk or Treat at the Library on October 13, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The annual Fall Festival in downtown Swainsboro will be on October 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Kiwanis will meet at the Boneyard at 3 p.m. to begin making cotton candy and popcorn There is another Trunk or Treat at the 4H Varner Center on October 31, starting at 4 p.m. Sign-up sheets for the events were circulated.
