Franklin Memorial Library to host Toddler Time

Posted

Franklin Memorial Library will host Toddler Time every Friday at 10:30 a.m. October 11 was no different…Mrs. Shari prepared for her toddler bunch and was eager to see her little ones once again. Everyone started arriving and she began her weekly story time and craft. This time together opens the door for every child in attendance to not only meet new friends but walk through the door of literacy. At this specific Toddler Time, two new little boys got this experience too. They were brought in by their aunt, Miss South Carolina World Carlene Ayala. Carlene is a Swainsboro native and stopped by with her nephews to enjoy our Toddler Time and allowed all the children to wear her crown and sash. She wanted to experience this opportunity with her nephews and watch how Mrs. Shari conducts her time with the little ones. Carlene would like the opportunity to use her platform to promote “Education with a Purpose”, a project she is working on that increases the love of literacy in our community. This promotion of literacy starts with the local library, the benefits of reading to your children at such a young age and on up will benefit them greatly as they grow. According to Ferst Readers, Top Literacy Statistics, “The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) found that children who were read to frequently are also more likely to count to 20 or higher than those who were not (60% vs. 44%), write their own names (54% vs. 40%) and read or pretend to read (77% vs. 57%).” Reading helps build your child’s mind and imagination and it all starts with you at home. Look at our Facebook page or stop by today for a calendar of all the events and the next Toddler Time! Bring your little ones and their siblings because we love having them and look forward to seeing them. Mrs. Shari and Carlene will be working together on some things for our little ones so be on the lookout!
