EGSC plans Ethics Awareness Week activities

Posted

Each year, East Georgia State College participates in Ethics Awareness Week. This year, EGSC will celebrate November 9-13. The University System of Georgia (USG) has an Ethics and Compliance Program that promotes the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct within the University System of Georgia and to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies. Ethics Awareness Week helps serve as a reminder of those standards and conduct.

The Ethics Awareness Campaign is a priority initiative of the Chancellor of the USG. To support campuses during Ethics Awareness Week, the USG is providing resources on this important initiative. The week will kick off with an Ethics Awareness Week video, speaker video, and University System of Georgia panel discussion.

EGSC has also set up activities throughout the week for students, faculty and staff to take part in. Beginning Monday, November 9, quizzes will take place throughout the week and feature ethics-based questions through EGSC’s email platform. Videos of students presenting an ethics tip of the day will also be sent through email to all students and employees. Resource tables, posters, and an ethics refresher employee training will all be available during the week as additional resources for students and employees.

EGSC students will have the opportunity to watch an ethics-based movie entitled Just Mercy. Students will receive additional information about movie times and sign up instructions in their EGSC email account. Additionally, the EGSC library will have a book and movie display set up for students to enjoy throughout the week.

EGSC’s Statesboro and Augusta campuses will also have resource tables and events planned. Emails about the events will be sent to student’s EGSC email account.  Both campuses will be included in the Ethics Awareness Week emails.

Activities during this week will bring awareness to ethics, reinforce the principles of recognizing the hard work of employees, and promote our shared values. The theme for this week is the “SPIRIT of USG.”  Activities planned will emphasize:  Stewardship. Prevention. Integrity. Responsibility. Inspiration. Trust.
