Mr. Edward “Gene” Stone, 89, of Kite, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral service was held Saturday, June 17, at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Chapman Funeral Home with Elder Robbie Dollar officiating. Interment followed in Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Kite. Family received friends from Saturday, June 17, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brandon Stone, Justin Stone, Trevor Stone, Jon Michael Stone, Jay Foskey, and Todd Ivey.
Mr. Stone was born November 20, 1933, in Swainsboro, to Harley Stone and Ruby Bargeron Stone. He was a 1952 Swainsboro High School graduate. Mr. Gene loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to dance with his sweetheart, Sandra, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Gene was in the United States Air Force. He was the owner of Southside Superette and retired from Handi-House in Swainsboro as Sales Manager Truck Accessories. Mr. Stone is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Stone; and brothers, Bobby Stone and Bill Stone.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Sandra Anderson; son, Gary (Laura) Stone of Millbrook, AL; step-daughters, Robyn (Jay) Foskey and Christy Anderson, both of Kite; grandchildren, Brandon (Rachel) Stone, Justin Stone, Trevor Stone, Savannah Stone, Jon Michael Stone, Nikki (Brandon) Wiggins, Chris (Tawnya) Anderson and Jodi Price; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
