Eagles edged out by two in Friday’s away game

Posted

The David Emanuel Academy Eagles fell short of the Crisp Academy Wildcats by

a score of 26-24 on Friday. The Eagles headed into Friday’s game with a win

record against the Wildcats of 7-2. Confidence was high, coming off of last

week’s win against Grace Christian.

The Eagles started strong with a 59 yard touchdown run by Senior RB/OLB,

Clayton Hood. Junior QB, Richard Braddy played an impressive game with 130

passing yards for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Freshman WR, Ben

Griner, helped regain the lead for the Eagles late in the fourth quarter with a 47

yard touchdown reception.

After the Eagles regained the lead, they suffered a devastating two-point loss due

to a miracle play by the Wildcats in the final seconds of the game.

In a new tradition at DEA, we are naming players of the week in multiple areas.

Week two’s Practice Player of the Week is Junior DL/LB/OL #54 Bryan Beasley.

Special Teams Player of the Game is Junior WR/LB #6 Sailor Powell with 3

kickoff returns for 90 yards, and 4 punt returns for 17 yards. Defensive Player of

the Game is Senior DL #25 Peyton Lee with 9 tackles, 4 QB pressures, and 2

passes batted down. Offensive Player of the Game is Freshman WR #11 Ben

Griner with 3 receptions, 59 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 1 carry and 5 rushing

yards. Our Ware’s BBQ MVP for week 2 is Junior QB #4 Richard Braddy with

130 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns and 41 rushing yards. Cheerleader of

the Week is Freshman Lyla Martin. She is someone who is 100% committed to

her squad and supportive of her team - always willing to help and making sure

things are getting done behind the scenes. She understands the role of a

cheerleader and does her best to fulfill it. Our cheerleader of the game for this

week is actually the whole entire Varsity Cheer Team. These girls cheered their

hearts out in Cordele, Ga. this past Friday night! They kept the fans stomping

and cheering and the boys hyped in a very tight ballgame. They brought energy

and the extra drive our boys needed to continue to fight. It was true cheerleading

in action! Great job Eagles!

The Eagles are looking forward to coming back stronger this week against

opponent John Hancock Academy in a home game. Kick-off will be at 7:30. Join

us in Stillmore as we yell, “Go Eagles”.
