Eagles defeat Highlanders on multiple hit performance by Carrie Johnson

Carrie Johnson collected three hits in three at bats, as David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles defeated First Preparatory Christian Academy Varsity Highlanders 17-0 on Thursday, October 9. Johnson singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.

The Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Payton Peebles singled, scoring two runs, Addalyn Terwilliger doubled, scoring one run, Kate Yeomans doubled, scoring one run, Bailey McNure singled, scoring one run, Emily McRae grounded out, scoring one run, and Aubrey Scott singled, scoring one run.

DEA scored five runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Yeomans singled, scoring one run, Johnson singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and McRae grounded out, scoring one run.

The Eagles scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Terwilliger hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Johnson singled, scoring one run, Lexie Starley grounded out, scoring one run, and Scott doubled, scoring one run.

Rayleigh Faircloth earned the win for the Eagles. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one.

David Emanuel Academy piled up 14 hits in the game. McNure led the Eagles with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Scott set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Eagles with four hits in four at bats. Yeomans and Johnson each collected multiple hits for DEA. Johnson stole two bases – the Eagles stole six bases in the game and turned one double play.
