The Emanuel Arts Council’s 2024 Summer Art Camp will be held at Vann Community House in Swainsboro July 22-24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp is sponsored by Mill Creek Foundation and is for 20 students in rising third through fifth grades.

“Our art instructor will be Terrie Daniel, and she will be assisted by Mark Lillquist and Tmyra Peterson,” said Jacquie Brasher, EAC executive director. “Tmyra is joining us for the first time this year, but both Terrie and Mark have been a part of our art camp family for several years. We are very fortunate to have all of them with us.” Brasher added that there has been a noticeable rise in sign-ups for art camp this year. "All 20 spots filled two months ago, and we now have a growing waiting list. I'm very encouraged by the interest shown for our camp this summer."

TERRIE DANIEL, Art Instructor

Terrie is a graduate of Georgia Southern University where she has been fine-tuning her skills in Etching and Painting. After graduating with her associate’s degree in art (Spring 2019) from East Georgia State College, she furthered her education with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts from Georgia Southern University. She will be returning to the Master’s in Fine Arts program at GSU in the fall of 2025. Terrie was a featured artist at The Kalmanson Gallery of EAC during January-February of 2023.

MARK LILLQUIST, Art Assistant

Mark is no stranger to the EAC art camps. He has been the instructor of each camp from 2017 to 2021. He has been employed as art teacher at Emanuel County Institute in Twin City since 2005. He is not only an artist, but a musician and writer as well; he likes to record music and write songs. He has given away pastel art works in Japan, Africa, California, and just about everywhere he has “been more than a minute.” Mark enjoys creating and recording music in the studio he built in his home.

TMYRA PETERSON, Art Assistant

Tmyra is a 2022 graduate of Emanuel County Institute where she was on the Star Honor Roll with a 3.7 GPA. She is also a 2024 graduate of East Georgia State College, was on the Dean’s Honor List, and an active member of the EGSC Art Club. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

The Emanuel Arts Council, Inc. (EAC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose purpose is to empower and grow the community through cultural programs in all areas of the arts. The Kalmanson Gallery of EAC is located at 109 North Green Street in Swainsboro.
