The Downtown Swainsboro Fall Festival will be held next Tuesday, October 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Boneyard. The event will feature carnival games, inflatables, and a variety of other fun activities for the entire family.

The Swainsboro Kiwanis Club’s traditional Octoberfest celebration will take place at the Boneyard Pavilion, where crowds gather each year for the club’s popular cotton candy and popcorn giveaways while DJ Pete Sutherland keeps the music pumping throughout the event.

WXRS The Rocket will host a costume contest on the east side of the pavilion beginning at 6 p.m. A family four-pack of tickets to Wild Adventures Kid-O-Ween or Terror In The Wild will be awarded to the best costume in each of the following age categories: 3 & under, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16 & up, and pet. Registration for the costume contest will begin at 5:15 p.m., or contestants can pre-register online at wxrs.com or therocket971.com

Franklin Memorial Library will also award a family four-pack of passes to Wild Adventures’ Halloween events for the winning entries in its pumpkin decorating contest. Pumpkins must be decorated as a book character and the contest is open to all ages. Pumpkins should be turned in at the library’s booth at the farmers market shelter at the Boneyard by 6:30 p.m.

New this year, Emanuel Medical Center is sponsoring a county-wide anti-bullying campaign and “Blue Out.” The hospital will host a photo booth at the fall festival, and everyone is encouraged to wear blue in support of campaign.

Dozens of other local businesses and organizations will offer old-fashioned carnival games and exciting activities ranging from ring toss to face painting during the event. All carnival games will be free to play. Tickets will be available for purchase for inflatables and rides provided by Carter’s Rock-N-Rides.
