Although Emanuel County will not host its annual #purplethursday balloon release at the downtown fountain in Swainsboro, luminaries will be displayed around the downtown fountain bearing the names of the 109 men, women, and children who lost their lives to domestic violence in 2019.

In addition to Swainsboro’s awareness campaign…

Southeastern Technical College’s Vidalia campus will host a balloon release event at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 22, as well as a “Step-by-Step in HER shoes” Walkathon event this coming Saturday, September 24, beginning at 9 a.m. Information on the walkathon event can be obtained by contacting Sha’Keema Wooden at shakeemawooden@gmail.com or by calling 912-403-7606.

Did you know: Emanuel County Courthouse showcases a banner with flags outside of its establishment on an annual basis each October to honor lost lives and raise awareness of domestic violence. Within the past year, a total of 109 lives were reported to have been lost in Georgia due to domestic violence.
