Daughtry speaks to Four Rivers

The Four Rivers Patriots Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting Thursday night, September 19, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 7 p.m. With President Steve DeWeil presiding, there were 19 in attendance. After the invocation by Chaplain Emory Fennell, the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR, President Steve asked East Fall Line Region Vice President Dess Smith III for a special presentation. Dess called President Harold Steven DeWeil and Sgt-at-Arms Daniel Hudson Brown to come forward and presented them both with the "National Society Sons of the American Revolution Military Service Veterans Corps Certificate. DeWeil and Brown are both now members of the MSVC and are honored with this Certificate of Patriotism for standing ready to defend the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic. As a Veteran, they are authorized by the SAR to wear the Military Service Medal in grateful recognition for their service to the country in the defense of America. President Steve then asked Dess to introduce the speaker for the evening, Compatriot Hu Daughtry, from the Mill Creek Chapter in Statesboro who brought his wife Susan with him. Hu spoke on the "Ballard of Tom Dula/Dooley". The next meeting will be on October 17, and the speaker will be Mike Lisenby from Swainsboro. His presentation will be on the "Formation of the Colonies, 1600's/1700's".
