Charles Dennis, age 72, of Adrian, passed away on Monday afternoon, May 27, 2024, at Memorial Health in Savannah. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m. in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Mulling officiating. Mr. Dennis was laid to rest in Midway Cemetery. Family received friends Thursday, May 30, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at Sammons Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Roy Marcin, Brandon Marcin, Chris Allen, Roger Sumner, Kenneth Sumner and Thomas Webb. Gene Green served as an honorary escort.

Born in Adrian, Charles was son of the late Herman Rozier “Pee Wee” Dennis and Sarah Beasley Dennis. He grew up in Adrian and attended Adrian High School. Being the son of a carpenter, it was only natural that Charles would follow in his father’s footsteps and work with wood. He worked at the Richard Auger Sawmill and for over fifteen years at Henry’s Cabinet Shop in Swainsboro. Charles left Henry’s and worked at Miami Carey for a short time before working at Swainsboro Electroplating, where he remained until retiring at the time of its closure. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter and First Responder for the City of Adrian, where he served as Assistant Chief for many years. Those that knew Charles know that he was a “Collector of Fine Junk”. He enjoyed estate sales, yard sales, auctions, flea markets and walking miles on dusty roads looking for arrowheads. If Charles happened upon a unique piece of Coke or NASCAR memorabilia, it was going home with him. He had been a member of the Jump and Run Hunting Club and attended Hebron Holiness and Pine Hill Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dennis is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Dennis, who passed away Jan. 20, 2013; and brother, A.J. Dennis, who passed away Nov. 19, 2022.

Mr. Dennis leaves behind his daughter, Carol Graham of Soperton; siblings, Nellie Odon of Dublin, Zelda Sumner (Roger) of Adrian and Rocky Dennis of Adrian; sister-in-law, Nell Dennis of Adrian; nieces and nephews, Roxanne Odom, Nora Clements, Kenneth Sumner (Mercedes), Krisy Marcin (Roy), Nikki Dennis, Rocky Dennis, Haley Garnto, Joseph “Pee Wee” Dennis and Amanda Dennis; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

SAMMONS FUNERAL HOME was in charge of arrangements.
