Charles “Charlie” Kea, 73

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Charles, “Charlie” Kea, age 73, of Lake Junaluska, NC on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, at 2 p.m. in the Kea's Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Kea officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family received friends at the church from 12 p.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers were Zac Kea, Logan Kea, Avery Collins and Bill Devereaux

Mr. Kea was born March 5, 1950, in Swainsboro, to the late Horace Lee and Lucy Brantley Kea. He attended Swainsboro High School before joining the military and serving two years and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1969. Charlie attended and graduated from Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, OK in 1994. Sharing bible-based teachings through writings, books and videos was his ministry and his passion. It was his heart and soul to share and teach people God’s word. Mr. Charlie was a building contractor and the owner of Pineland Custom Homes. Mr. Kea is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Kea.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marlene Barr Kea of Lake Junaluska, NC; son, Christopher Kea (Stephanie) of Lake Junaluska, NC; brothers, Alan Kea (Theresa) of Blairsville and Bobby Kea (Helen) of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, Brian Kea and Caroline Kea.
